About Our ClubThe 3 Rivers Road Runners have been running strong in the Tri-Cities, Washington since the late 1970’s. With the death of disco, we traded in our platform shoes for waffle trainers and hit the roads, trails, and the tracks. Over the years, club members have logged tens of thousands of miles. One of our distinguished members has run over 100 marathons! But the club isn’t just for experienced runners… we welcome all who share our lifestyle of enjoying a good run. The 3 Rivers Road Runners are for runners of all shapes and sizes, from the veteran ultramarathoner to the beginner working towards that first 5 km fun run, and everyone in between. The primary goal of the 3 Rivers Road Runners is to promote running events in the Tri-Cities. Besides providing events for our members and the runners in the region, with our events we hope to attract new runners to the club that can benefit from the healthful, positive lifestyle gained through running. Several of our runs benefit local United Way agencies. We have also been able to offer limited scholarships to deserving college students in our area each year for the last several years. Our running club not only gives back to the running community, we give back to the community at large. The annual menu of events hosted by the 3 Rivers Road Runners offers a wide variety with something for everyone. Foot races/fun runs vary from one-milers to our 26.2-mile Welch’s Tri-Cities Marathon. We also offer a variety of multi-sport events, such as triathlons and duathlons, that combine biking and/or swimming with running. And for those that may not participate in a specific event, we always appreciate those folks that give back to the running community by volunteering to help at a 3RRR event. President’s MessagePresident’s MessageAnd Now a Word from our Sponsors…I think I have made it really clear through the years how much I appreciate the volunteers that help at our races and make it possible for me to direct and compete in the races. Especially those folks that come back time and time again to help out. We couldn’t do the races without them. Well, we wouldn’t be sustaining the club at the standard we are used to without all the great sponsors we have for our races. Here is a partial list that you should be aware of: · David Hughes with Hughes Physical Therapy sponsors the Fiasco in Pasco Duathlon, and has been since the beginning of that race. David and some of his staff usually participate in the Fiasco and other events in the Series. · Ken Call of Therapeutic Associates is another competitor in many of our Series events and is the original sponsor of the Righteous Richland Sprint Triathlon. Ken is also a very generous sponsor of the Kid’s Marathon Running Program we started last fall. · Mike Hall with Ice Harbor Brewery jumped in as another sponsor of the sprint triathlon and will be providing beer glasses for the age group and overall winners…along with 6-packs for the overall winners. We have had a great time with the holiday party and the last few club meetings at Ice Harbor. · Dave Acton at Atomic Ale BrewPub is our sponsor of the Aquaman Duathlon and provides us with beer glasses and his famous potato soup for that event. Dave also gave us a great deal for a 5-gallon bucket of soup for our holiday party this past year. · Janelle Klashke with the Tri-City Court Club is one of the original sponsors of our Titanium Man Triathlon, as they have every year since we started the triathlon in 1990. So why am I bringing all this to your attention? Because you should know the folks out there in our community that support our club and our activities. Return the favor…support our sponsors. Say hey to Mike and drop by for a beer at Ice Harbor and check out their great beer. If you are ever in the situation where you need some physical therapy, as runners and triathletes find themselves from time to time, please consider David or Ken for your needs. If you are debating about which health club to join, remember that Tri-City Court Club has supported us for years. And if you know Matt Moeller, give him a thank you for his support. In fact, when you get an opportunity to talk to any of the folks I mentioned above, be sure and tell them how much you appreciate their support and say THANKS. The great sponsors we have sure make my race director job easier.
